The Collaborative Software Testing and Reporting System (C-STARS) aims to leverage the strengths of individuals on the spectrum by establishing a unique platform for collaborative software testing
Key Concepts – Collaboration & Accommodations
The true power of C-STARS lies in its collaborative nature. Individuals with ASD often face challenges in social and communication skills, but engaging in academic tasks with peers can indirectly enhance these skills.
C-STARS extends this concept to a professional setting, providing a platform where participants can actively collaborate with their peers. Similar to how Agile teams support STEM activities, C-STARS enables individuals with autism to access the same opportunities.
Features:
C-STARS offers a suite of cloud-based software services designed to support collaborative testing. It enables a small team of 4 to 6 participants to contribute to a common test session. The test results are consolidated into a single report, which identifies the strengths and weaknesses of each individual who participated in the test. To accommodate the unique needs of each tester, C-STARS builds upon established educational concepts of providing accommodations.
The system incorporates various technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), including Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) algorithms. These technologies allow testers to provide input in a variety of ways, tailored to their strengths and capabilities.
Additionally, C-STARS offers instructional videos that guide testers through standard operations when necessary. The real-time test reports are shared with the development team, who can provide feedback on the accuracy and completeness of the tested items. This information is then utilized by C-STARS to develop individual profiles and enhance team support and training for future work.
